Covid-19 has changed the way we all have been able to celebrate our birthdays. I normally celebrate my birthday all weekend or all month (depending on the milestone year). This year, I decided to reflect on how much I grew during Year 30. Below is my reflection:

It’s my birthday!

Today, I turned 31 and Nyla decided that she wanted to wake up at 5:30 in the morning. Now I am NOT a morning person. I would have preferred to sleep in at least until 10 AM but Nyla had other plans for me.

I wasn’t happy at first because well…. I love my sleep! Before I had Nyla if I had nothing to do, I could sleep all day. Call me what you want, sleep was my best friend 🤷🏽

Anyways, rather than be upset about having to wake up early, I decided to start Year 31 off on a good foot and work out. Just for some background info, I have a love-hate relationship with exercise.

I never really liked to work out. Growing up I could eat what I wanted and not gain weight quickly. From high school until my Sophomore year in college I weighed about 125 pounds. I maintained this weight with minimal exercise (in high school I was on the step-team where we did a lot of cardio and in college during my Freshman year, we were required to take some type of wellness class).

I have found different types of exercises that I like such as pilates and cardio dance. I have an app called Neou that I use which has a bunch of different types of workout classes like kickboxing and yoga. I just have issues with being consistent.

So I decided to do a low impact workout that had me feeling great! It wasn’t heavy on my knees and I felt super energized after.

Reflecting on year 30 (and previous years) I realized that I haven’t been putting my health first. I have a huge sweet tooth that sent me to the hospital (due to a painful toothache) and again I don’t like working out.

Outside of my lack of self-care, Year 30 brought a few good lessons.

Lesson #1- The Power of Community

Just a month after I turned 30, I decided to go on this journey into mompreneurship. In the process, I joined a lot of Facebook groups and connected with a lot of people who I otherwise would have not connected with.

And let me tell you, it has been AWESOME!

Any questions I’ve had, I’ve been able to ask within these groups. I have been able to share my wins with people who don’t know me in real life.

I have even joined accountability groups- one for writing (shoutout to the “ladies” as Nyla calls them), one for the development of my coaching business, and most recently, one to FINALLY finish my certification in Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), Hypnotherapy, Time, EFT, and Life and Success (more info coming soon).

These groups have all helped me to get clarity around where I see myself in 1-3 years and all I can say is Just wait on it!

Lesson #2- Don’t Let My Perfectionism Get the Best of Me

This lesson was a big one for me. I can’t talk enough about my perfectionism and how I am working through it, but it stopped me from putting my website out in January like I had planned. I wanted my site to look a particular way and I kept tweaking it and I took my time releasing it.

I had to hold myself accountable by posting on social media that I was releasing it to FINALLY get it done. I even stayed up over 24 hours putting it together right before I took off the coming soon page.

In staying up over 24 hours, I realized that done is better than perfect and I am trying to live by that rule (even though I still struggle with it every once in a while).

Lesson #3- I Have So Much to Give

This was more of a realization than an actual lesson but I realized the capacity of how I want to serve my community.

I started this journey just wanting to take moms through the same process I am going through, but over the last few weeks, it has evolved to wanting to build a community of mompreneurs.

Over the next few years, I want to create a space for mompreneurs and aspiring mompreneurs where we can learn from each other, laugh with each other, cry with each other, and not have to feel like we have to get it right every step of the way.

I want to not only teach what I am learning, but also allow others to do the same.

I want to help moms find their voice and take back their power.

I want to show the world that we are not only badass moms, but also badass entrepreneurs too.

I feel like my dreams are slowly but surely coming into fruition and I feel so grateful for the growth I made in Year 30, and I can’t wait to see what Year 31 looks like!

Stay tuned for more content (I am going to finally start filming videos and going live on social media eek!), coaching clients (shout out to Chantel and Becky for trusting me to help make their dreams come true), and overall feeling grateful and blessed to do what I love.

I thank you for coming on this journey with me, it’s only the beginning!

Okay love, talk soon

Peace,
